Da Bakery Shop & Gallery opened it’s doors in May of 2009. Located at 1700 Southern Blvd. in the Bronx, N.Y by Sandro “SEN2” Figueroa & Anthony “BEOND” Cabezas. The concept of the store was created while working out of their graphic arts and silk screen printing shop at Hunt’s Point in the South Bronx. After traveling across the globe and experiencing the graffiti movement while painting in places like Spain, Germany Greece, Brasil & Puerto Rico to name a few Sen2 asked Beond to join him in this venture which made sense based on Beond’s experience in the retail/ wholesale trade as a tshirt designer & printer.
We noticed we were hosting the international Streetwear & Graffiti market at our studio because of the relationships that were formed while painting abroad and decided to stop chasing window space with retailers who don’t understand the smaller independent brands. So we decided to move out the studio and into the perfect retail space.
The concept for the business was Specialty Boutique, Graffiti shop & Gallery where we can sell our personal brands Sen2 Collection & Beond 69 along with other independent brands such as Crooks & Castles, Two Angle, Supra footwear, Dissisit etc.. Artist can also buy paint and paint on our rooftop or DA BAKERY’S personal hall of fame in our 1200 sq. ft area at the back of the store. The art gellery is set up as a venue to showcase Graffiti Art and Events by some of the world’s best artist as well as up and coming artist. Graffiti is and art form and we are here to support the movement.
Dabakery plans on releasing it’s own line of Tshirts, Hats, Graffiti magazines & DVD’s in the year to come.
